MINUTES OF MEETING OCTOBER 24, 2017
Present: Unit 181 Board Members: Shirley Galler, Barry Wolk, John Hindle, Marielle Brentnall, Bob Kuz,, Ray Hornby, Gerri Hewitt, Marlene Pontifex, Leigh Anne Shafer, Dave West, Joan Clasen.
Also in attendance: Bill Treble, Jenna Tichon
President Marielle Brentnall called the meeting to order at 5.35 PM.
1. Adoption of the agenda: Moved by Bob Kuz Seconded by Ray Hornby Carried.
2. Minutes of Meeting September 26, 2017 approved as printed. Moved by Shirley Galler, Seconded Gerri Hewitt Carried.
3. Business arising out of the minutes
Blue Book Email addresses will be added. Target date for publishing Spring 2018
4. Correspondence:
Invoice from our previous Landlord 7065214 Manitoba Ltd. 2- 1460 Chevrier Blvd has been received. This is to cover costs of returning the space to its original state. This is to be disputed. Brian Pauls is requested to handle this matter
The Landlord is also holding our deposit.
Update Marielle will be meeting with Brian Pauls Week of October 30, 2017
Sold our extra computer
There is a potential interest in a sale of the small TV
There is a need for a Partnership coordinator Marielle has the approval of the board to approach Deloris Ankrom re this position
Emails Received
Bill Treble wrote thanking the Board for the presentation made to him at the Harvest Fling. This commemorated his achieving 10,000 master points and Author of the Year for his latest Bridge Book. Bill stated he was extremely touched
5. Club Owners Report.
Printer problem resolved.
6 Facility Operations Committee:
Lift installation update permit problems awaiting structural and electrical drawings
Due to prior commitments before our lease was signed Soul Sanctuary will not be available for use on the Afternoon of Thursday November 2, Tuesday December 12 Afternoon and full day Wednesday December 13
7. Special Events
2018 Regional will be held May 1-6, 2018 at Soul Sanctuary
November Sectional November 9-12, 2018 at Soul Sanctuary
January 2018 Winter Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday at Soul Sanctuary dates to be announced.
NAP final Sunday November 5, 2017 at the Lawn Bowling Club. Tables will have to be transported.
Welcome to our new facility celebration will be held Thursday Evening October 19, 2017 was held Titled Harvest Fling a perfectly wonderful evening including the celebration of Bill Trebles achievements.
Month of October is Club Appreciation Month each club can hold a special game. Dates to be announced.
8. Treasurer’s Report
Received a Profit and Loss statement to September 30, 2017.
GST is being finalized, filings for 2014, 2015, 2016 to be submitted by November 30, 2017
9. Membership Chair John Hindle announced they will be setting up a meeting and will report at the next Board meeting.
10.Long Term Planning Report
John to contact City of Wpg re building possibility
Fund Raising Committee will have a meeting and report at the next Board meeting.
Next Unit 181 Board Meeting December 12, 5.30 P.M at the New Facility Soul Sanctuary.
