MINUTES OF MEETING FEBRUARY 9, 2016

1. No new items added to the agenda
Marielle Brentnall called the meeting to order at 5.30 PM.

5. To Do List:
Grant Application Tourism Manitoba - no update Dave Brough will be approached
ACBL Training Session - no longer exists
Chairs - George Lee’s friend no longer available, Marlene has suggestions on cushions, Jan Bailey will be approached for her contacts
Fund Raising Bridge Week 2017- Dave Brough has ideas he will bring forth
Mentoring Revamp – Decided to leave program as is for this year
6. Mentoring will be promoted to have games played at the facility games. This subject will be brought up with the club owners at the next facility meeting.
7. Correspondence:
Request has been received by a rural club to purchase 10 sets of our old style boards that are not used in the duplimate machine. Decision was made to retain all our boards these are used in all Swiss team games at local tournaments and we require a large number for regional tournaments.
District 2 requires Unit 181 Delegates for District Meeting March 25, 26 2016. Shirley Galler and Doug Fisher were appointed.
Parking lot is under camera surveillance, we receive e-mail transmissions of any infractions. All members are requested to observe signs and practice safe driving habits in the parking lots.
District 2 Hazel Hewitt has requested an update on Unit 181 programs for newer players, we will forward a listing of supervised play games we conduct, Tournaments held by the Ambassador Club for intermediate players, Learn Bridge in a Day program we successfully held and the next one proposed for April 3, 2016 and the School Bridge that Doreen Olsen teaches, along with the information that last year Doreen held a windup at our facility for her class.
8. Treasurers Report Polar Bear Tournament showed a small profit. It was decided that the 2 day format is one we should use for a winter tournament. We need to monitor hospitality costs at all of our tournaments, costs for the Polar Bear were slightly higher than normal.
Steps have been taken at the Steinbach Credit Union for on line monitoring of our accounts.
We will request assistance with our Financial Statements per past practice
8. Facility Operations. Club Owners have been given new contracts, we have one signed, 2 pending.
We need to discuss purchase of supplies, drinks milk etc at our next meeting
Suggestion to have a new game for under 50 points to be run concurrently with our Wed. Aft. Game Carolyn Douglas has offered to assist in setting up this event.
Director Training we are planning a summer training session more info later.
New Cards, at the next facility meeting this subject will be forthcoming. We need to ensure our Duplimate Machine is in good operation and the usage of dirty cards will shorten the life span of this machine.
9. Learn Bridge in a Day next session will be held April 3, 2016 at the Facility. Fees of $15.00 per person which includes lunch will be charged.
10. Special Events
Red River Regional Tournament Budget presented October 25-30, 2016 at the Viscount Gort.
The November Tournament will be cancelled in 2016. September 2016 Tournament will be held as scheduled.
April 14-17 2016 Tournament programs are printed.

11. Membership Committee Report:
Require an update on our Web site highlighting special games
Senior Games will be held in Brandon, June 14-16, 2016. Brandon have sent a request if we could provide a director. We can have a booth to promote Bridge. The Bridge events take place on June 15, 2016.
12. Learn Bridge in a Day was successfully held on January 24, 2016 There were 16 tables of participants. Volunteers were at each table to assist. Received very complimentary feedback. Presentation was well received. We have 15 on the wait list for the next presentation. Supervised Play games information was given and in the next week 14 participants attended one of our games.
