MANITOBA CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE
MINUTES OF MEETING MAY 1,2018
Present: Unit 181 Board Members: Shirley Galler, Barry Wolk, John Hindle, Ray Hornby, Dave West, Marlene Pontifex, Doug Fisher, Deloris Ankrom, Bob Kuz, Gerri Hewitt.
Also in attendance Jenna Tichon, Bill Treble
Vice President John Hindle chaired the meeting. Called to order 5.30 PM
1. Minutes of Meeting March 27,2018 approved as printed. Moved by Doug Fisher, Seconded Dave West Carried.
2. Business arising out of the minutes
Blue Book now ready to be published. John has sent copy to printer for quote. Final editing will be done by Membership Committee members and will be completed in a 2 week time frame.
Update on Lease Dispute. A chronicle of events transpiring has been produced. Doug will take a copy to Brian Pauls for updating. Will report at the next meeting as to the next step.

1. Acknowledge Donations. Marielle will complete list with assistance of Treasurer these will be posted on Web Site. March 2018 IN PROGRESS

4. Club Owners Report. No report
5 Facility Operations Soul Sanctuary have concerns over kitchen use. There was an instance of the fridge door not being closed properly after an evening game causing a motor to be burnt out. It is requested that only the Director in Charge and his or her designate be allowed in the kitchen. Also we must ensure that all fridge doors are tightly closed at the end of each game. Directors are to ensure this procedure is followed.
Soul Sanctuary also have requested that they do not wish to deal with numerous Bridge Members with questions etc. Carolyn Douglas is our contact with Soul Sanctuary. If you have request’s please channel through Carolyn.
6. Special Events
Rookie Master Game was held Tuesday April 17, 2018.With 11 tables participating. The Rookies enjoyed their evening. Jenna thanks all the “Masters” who contributed to this success.
April Sectional was held April 26-29, 2018. We had a good turnout. Feedback on the Knockout teams held Thursday Night through Sat was not positive. Alternative games possibly a Bracketed Swiss will be tried at a future tournament.
NAP qualifying games are to be run June to August at the club level. Listings for these games are on the web site calendar.
7. Treasurer’s Report. Table counts are in line with previous years. We are in a positive cash position.
8. Membership Committee have a new Chair Ann Wolfman. Plans are for a social event to be held in Fall 2018.
9.Long Term Planning and Fundraising Committee are combined. Meeting was held. We are committed that we want our own facility. Plans are in progress to raise funds designated for this purpose. Further information will be available shortly
10. Lessons for Fall 2018 will be coordinated by John Hindle and Carolyn Douglas. Schedule will be posted on web site.
Next Unit 181 Board Meeting Tuesday June 5, 2018 5.30 P.M at the New Facility Soul Sanctuary.
