MINUTES OF MEETING OCTOBER 23, 2018
Present: Unit 181 Board Members: Shirley Galler, Barry Wolk, John Hindle, Ray Hornby, Marsha Kimelman, , Marielle Brentnall, Doug Fisher, Deloris Ankrom, Bob Kuz, Dave West, Marlene Pontifex, Gerri Hewitt

President John Hindle chaired the meeting. Called to order 5.00 PM
Quorum declared.
Sadly Ann Wolfman has resigned from the Board of Directors of Unit 181 due to illness.
1. Minutes of Meeting September 25, 2018 approved as circulated. Moved by Deloris Ankrom, Seconded by Marsha Kimelman Carried.
2. Business arising out of the minutes
Blue Book Completed and distributed.
Golden Age recognition from ACBL this is rather complicated for who is eligible for this award. Consists of Age, Master Points, Carolyn investigating.
Hearing Aids. Joan Clasen is continuing to research this project.
With the move to our upstairs club room discussions on coffee snacks etc is ongoing. It is noted we are allowed to keep moderate supplies in our cupboards . Let’s not over stock.
Surcharge The motion the Board passed concerning the extra charges at Sectionals and Regionals for non member and lapsed members has been received by Paul Janicki Dist 2 Rep and will be brought forth at the ACBL Board of Directors meeting held at the Spring Nationals. .
3. Correspondence.
Emails have been received by President John Hindle about an incident occurring at Kirkfield Westwood Monday Night Bridge Club.
Unit 181 has created a Conduct Committee to handle such complaints.
Doug Fisher has been named Chair.
Phishing scams have been directed at ACBL Board members. We are to be vigilant
5.Special Events
October Regional Tournament was held successfully. Most of the attendees were from out of town. Our membership was sadly not in attendance. The next Regional will be held in 3 years time and we will be looking at ways and means to address this situation. Suggestions were a telephone blitz,
NAP Final will be held October 28 2018 at Kirkfield Westwood Bridge Club 2 session Game $25.00 entry fee includes lunch. 10.00 AM start time. There will be no Flight A.
The winter sectional will be held Friday and Saturday January 25 and 26, 2019.

Recap of financial position was reported.

No concerns.
8. Membership
Social Evening Pot Luck Dinner and Bridge will be held Dec 6, 2018 at 6.00 PM Marsha Kimelman coordinating.
9.Long Term Planning
Note the Board of Directors of Unit 181 are 100% in favour of this campaign to allow us to have our own facility. This was re confirmed, pledges have been received from our Board Members. Further plans to be announced.
