Barry Clifford Harper was born April 25, 1955 & left this world with family around him late evening February 14, 2014. Barry grew up in Wilkie, SK., the only and much loved child of Wilma & Clifford Harper. Barry was a gifted student, skipping two grades to enter the University of Saskatchewan at a young age. Barry completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Law. He practised law as Defense Attorney in Kelowna, BC., where he resided for five years before pursuing his passion for Bridge full-time. Barry was an ACBL Grand Life Master, number 2 on the list of top Canadian Master Point Holders & Vice Chairman of the ACBL Board of Governors. Over the last dozen years, Barry won hundreds of Regional Championships, three Richmond Trophies - awarded to the top Canadian Player of the year, and several high placings in National events. Barry made his partners at ease. They knew they were in good hands if they told him what they had & let him do the rest. If a mistake was made on their end, the most Barry might do is look at them over his glasses. Barry was a great story teller and often told a good joke. He was known for his heart, wit, warmth, generosity, intelligence, kindness, wisdom, and his smile. He had many friendships, some spanning over 40 years. Through Barry's struggle with his health, visitors, messages, and prayers came daily. Even when he didn't have strength to talk, Barry reached out to take friend's hands & give his little wave. Barry will be missed by his love Linda Selinger, his cherished step-daughter, Bonnie Flaman (Ryan), his five grandchildren who he was so proud of, Nate, Josiah, Alyssa, Rebecca, & Abigail Flaman, and his dear extended family and friends. Barry's family is grateful to the doctors, nurses, & care workers who cared for Barry and for us, and for friends and family who loved, encouraged, and cheered us on in Barry's last weeks. Love held us up. A celebration of Barry's life will be held on March 2nd from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm at the Regina Duplicate Bridge Club: 349 Albert St., Regina, SK.
