JANET ROGGE DUGLE June 7, 1934 - October 6, 2014 Janet Mary Rogge Dugle passed away in the early hours of October 6, 2014. Janet was born in Pierre, SD to parents, Charles and Gladyce Rogge. She was predeceased by her parents, sister Patrice (in infancy) and her partner, Bill Murray. Janet grew up and attended high school in Dupree, SD, then attended Carlton College, MN, Yale University, CT, and the University of Alberta, Edmonton, where she received her PhD in Botany. Janet worked at Atomic Energy of Canada Limited in the Environmental Research Branch at the Whiteshell site starting in 1967. She had a large research project in which she studied the effects of gamma irradiation on plants. In this capacity she had many summer students. She took one of the early retirements from AECL in the mid-1980s. From there she and Bill Murray started a framing and art business in town. Many a retirement gift or farewell gift was framed here. Janet was part of the Pinawa Support Group who met on a weekly basis. There she found friends and travelling partners who were an important part of her life. She also kept in touch with her cousins in the States via email and visits travelling to her winter home in Mission, TX. An avid bridge player, teacher, and director at the Pinawa Club, Janet achieved her bronze life masters. She enjoyed meeting people and travelling to tournaments. Janet was an avid photographer and was involved with the Pinawa Photography Club. She was also a member of the Trans Canada Trail committee providing her botanical and ecological expertise. She was also instrumental in making the Ironwood Trail. In earlier years, she curled and golfed. She was also a member of the first Pinawa Art 211 group and she loved birdwatching. Thank you to all those people who supported her over the last two years including the nurses, doctors (Dr. Manzar, Dr. Bruneau and Dr. Papetti) and staff at Pinawa Hospital and Dr. Pascoe of St. Boniface Hospital. She was pioneer survivor with an artificial heart valve for 33 years and then had another replacement two years ago. Thanks to her home care staff and Two Rivers Senior Support services. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 14 at the Pinawa Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Robert Murray officiating.
