MANITOBA CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE
MINUTES OF MEETING JANUARY 12, 2016
Present : Unit 181 Board Members: Marielle Brentnall, Doug Fisher, Shirley Galler, Leigh Anne Shafer, Barry Wolk, Dave West,. Ray Hornby, Mike Shaw, Deloris Ankrom, John Hindle Marlene Pontifex
1. No new items added to the agenda
Marielle Brentnall called the meeting to order AT 5.30 PM.
2. Adoption of the agenda: Moved by Deloris Ankrom Seconded Ray Hornby. Carried.
3. Minutes of Meeting December 10, 2015. Approved as printed Moved by Deloris Ankrom, Seconded by Dave West. Carried
4. No Business arising from the minutes
5. Correspondence and To Do List deferred to next meeting
6. Thursday Night Supervised Play Game will be run by Marielle Brentnall. At her request all profits generated from this game will be designated to applied to Subsidies.
7. Treasurers Report Preliminary year 2015 report given. There will be a profit on operations, Amortization of assets still to be calculated. Treasurer will bring a suggested policy of handling banking and cash controls to next meeting.
8. Facility Operations. We are at a critical time We must finalize and approve new lease. We must have new signed agreements with the Club Owners who rent the facility. It is noted our Unit Run games need to improve. Table Counts are falling. We need more directors, teachers, and a new approach to our games.
9. Motion: Raise card fees $1.00 per person per game to $9.00, February 1, 2016 on contingency of agreement with Unit and Club Owners. Moved by Doug Fisher Seconded by Marlene Pontifex Carried.
10. Special Events Marlene will handle these until April 2016. Suggestion box had 10 replies. Suggestions were for Car Pooling, Asking Bakery across the street to allow overflow parking. Tighter time limits on games, Chairs and Tables need to be up graded. Require name tags, and suggest to raise the card fees and unit to retain all the funds.
11. .We need to up grade some of our directors to Sectional Rating.
12. Learn Bridge in a Day will be held January 24, 2016 to date have 11 tables of interested future bridge players registered.
Note there have been several meetings held to facilitate signing a new lease agreement with Club Owners, and also of board members to iron out said agreement. Further updates will be forthcoming.
